The program is aimed at empowering girls and women in knowledge and skills in recycling and clean energy as climate canhge mitigation and environmental protection measures.
The program is timely and relevant for the slum communities where SYRADO works because of the poor waste management and drainage which brings with it gendered effects on health, hygiene and livelihoods affecting girls and women most. While raising awareness in the community on proper waste management and climate change, SYRADO also enhances the skills of girls and women to make different products through recycling waste. This project is called Recycling trash to treasure. Beneficiaries are able to make products such as bags, table mats, wall hangings from plastics and straws. In addition girls amd women are equipped with knowledge and skills in making bricket and energy saving stoves as a source of clean energy. As girls and women do this, they not only earn income but also contribute to climate change and environmental protection efforts.
